DPTag Pro is a separate plugin that adds features to the free one. It does not unlock anything: the free plugin is complete on its own, and the add-on brings its own screens, multilingual passports, SVG QR codes, the export, a monthly allowance of AI credits and the brand themes. It is distributed from dptag.com, not from the wordpress.org directory.
Before you install
The add-on needs the free DPTag plugin, version 0.9.4 or later, installed and active. On its own it does nothing, and it says so with a notice if the free plugin is missing.
A Pro plan is taken on dptag.com, from your account. It comes with a licence
key of the form DPP-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX, shown on the Overview page of your
dashboard and sent by email with the link to the add-on. That key is also
your account key for AI credits: one key, one account.
Install
Download the add-on from the Overview page of your dashboard, where a button hands you the current version; the licence email lands on that same spot. In WordPress, open Plugins, then Add New Plugin, then Upload Plugin, pick the zip, install and activate. The add-on installs next to the free plugin, never in place of it, and both stay active.
On activation without a key, the add-on opens its License screen straight away, since until a key is entered it changes nothing on the site and would otherwise look like an install that failed silently.
Activate the licence
Passports, then License, has one field: the licence key. Paste it and click Activate license. The add-on contacts dptag.com, claims a seat on your licence for this store, and the screen shows the state: Active - Pro unlocked, the plan, the sites in use, the renewal date and the time of the last check.
A licence covers up to three stores at once. Each activation takes a seat; Remove license on a store, or deactivating the add-on, frees its seat so the licence can move to another store. Seats are also managed from the Sites page of your dashboard, which can free a seat for a store you no longer have access to.
What the add-on sends
Only what the licence needs: the key, the store's address and an opaque site identifier. No product, no passport, no customer data. The AI autofill's product text is sent by the free plugin, on your click, as described on the AI autofill page; the add-on's only part in it is to attach your key so the run is billed to your account instead of the free sample.
Checks, outages and lapses
The add-on re-checks the licence once a day, and Check now does it on demand. A network outage never locks a paying store out: if dptag.com cannot be reached, Pro stays active for a grace period of fourteen days from the last successful check. Only an explicit answer from the server, a revoked, cancelled or expired licence, turns Pro off at once.
When Pro turns off, the features leave and the data stays. Translations already written keep being served by the free plugin, which owns their storage and their rendering. A passport page on a Pro palette or with a logo falls back to the free default palette and the brand name; it never breaks. Nothing has to be re-entered when the licence comes back.
Updates
The add-on updates itself from dptag.com, since WordPress only knows how to do that for the directory. It checks for a new version a few times a day and offers it under Plugins like any other update, in one click. The package is only served to a store with an active licence and an activated seat, so the update stops arriving when the licence lapses and resumes when it is back.
Update the add-on together with the free plugin when a release says so: a new add-on version may rely on a hook the free plugin publishes in its own new version. Against an older free plugin a feature is simply absent, not broken.
Next: AI credits, which start being used the moment the licence is active.
