A catalogue that is ready for print needs two things at once: its data, to check and to hand to a label printer or an accountant, and its codes, one per product. The Pro add-on's Export screen produces both for every published passport, in one action each.
The Export screen
Passports, then Export, shows how many published passports are ready and two downloads. Drafts are not exported: a draft has no public page and no code worth printing, and the export is meant for what is out.
The CSV
Download CSV gives one row per published passport, with every field of its template. The first columns identify the passport: its permanent identifier, the product name, the SKU, the GTIN if the product has one, the sector template, the public address, the completeness score and the date of the last update. The remaining columns are the passport's fields, one each. The composition is written in one cell as a label would, "95% organic cotton, 5% elastane".
The file opens in any spreadsheet. It is produced in batches as it downloads, so a catalogue of a few thousand passports never weighs on the memory of a shared host.
The CSV is an archive and a working document, not a backup that restores: nothing imports it back, because the permanent identifiers cannot be re-created. See bulk actions on why a passport is never deleted lightly.
The ZIP of QR codes
Download QR codes (ZIP) builds an archive with one SVG file per published passport, named after it. Each file is the same code as the SVG download of the passport editor, vector, print-ready at any size, with its quiet zone.
The archive is built in your browser: the codes are drawn there by the same library that draws them one by one, and packed on the spot, so no server process is involved and nothing leaves the site. A large catalogue takes a moment, and the screen says when the download is ready.
Typical uses
- Send the CSV and the ZIP to the printer of your labels or hang tags, one code per reference.
- Check a whole catalogue's data in one sheet, sorted by score or by field, before a season goes out.
- Keep a dated copy of what was public, which the passport's own revision history complements on your site.
